Presentation of the new project ForestLife in The Goulandris Natural History Museum

On Sunday 13 September 2015  the presentation of the new LIFE project ForestLife took place in the amphitheatre «Angelos Goulandris» of The Goulandris Natural History Museum‘ s GAIA Centre. Its scope is the building of cooperation, development of skills and  exchange of knowledge for Natura 2000 forests in Greece.

The event was greeted by the Deputy Minister of Reconstruction of Production, Environment and Energy, Mr. Konstantinos Mousouroulis and on behalf of Mrs Niki Goulandri, President of the Museum’s Board, Mr. Panagiotis Pikramenos, Honorary President of the Council of State, Former Prime Minister and member of the Museum’s Board. Dr. Petros Kakouros, Forester of the Greek Biotope/Wetland Centre (EKBY), the Project’s Co-ordinator, spoke about Project ForestLife.

Present in the event were the General Director for Development and Protection of Forests and the Rural Environment, Mr. Konstantinos Dimopoulos, the President of the Goulandris Natural History Museum, Mrs Niki Goulandri,  the Vice-President of the Museum, Mrs Fali Vogiatzaki, Mrs Nicole Kyriakopoulou, Member of the Museum’s Board, executives from the Forest Service, the Ministry and a large crowd.

The project is implemented by The Goulandris Natural History Museum/Greek Biotope-Wetland Cente (ΕΚΒΥ) and the General Directorate for the Development and Protection of Forests and the Rural Environment/Ministry of Environment and Energy, with the contribution of European Union’s LIFE financial instrument.
